Garlic chives are a flat leafed herb from the onion family, with a mild onion flavour. Packed with antioxidants and nutrients, these chives are used more like a vegetable than their round leafed cousin. Here's a favourite recipe from our kitchen that makes use of the whole bunch.
Garlic Chive Pancakes : Paleo and vegan
100gm tapioca flour
100gm almond meal
1 tsp coconut aminos
1/2tsp baking powder
3/4 cup water - approximate. You may need a little more
1 bunch garlic chives cut into 3cm lengths
Mix the tapioca flour, almond meal and baking powder together. Tip coconut aminos into 1/2 cup water and add to flours. Stir together then slowly add more water until you get a loose, thin batter. Add the chopped garlic chives. Heat oil in large frying pan.
1tbsp coconut aminos
1tsp coconut vinegar
1/2tsp sesame oil
1 tsp maple syrup
Sesame seeds for garnish
Mix together in a bowl and serve with hot pancake.
